Worksheet · Identity in Christ · 2 Corinthians 5:17
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" — 2 Corinthians 5:17
Identity is not formed in isolation — it is always formed in relationship, in community, in story. This worksheet traces the voices that have shaped who you believe yourself to be, and invites you to examine those beliefs against what Scripture says.
Step 1 — Who Do You Believe You Are?
- 1
Complete this sentence honestly: "Deep down, I believe I am ___."
- 2
Where did that belief come from? Who taught it to you — explicitly or by experience?
- 3
What words or messages from your past have most shaped how you see yourself?
1. Complete this sentence honestly: "Deep down, I believe I am ___."
2. Where did that belief come from? Who taught it to you — explicitly or by experience?
3. What words or messages from your past have most shaped how you see yourself?
Step 2 — What Voices Have You Listened To?
1. Whose voice has had the most power over your sense of worth? Are they a trustworthy source?
2. What has your performance — successes, failures, roles — taught you about who you are?
3. What do you believe you must be or do in order to be loved? By people? By God?
Step 3 — What Does Scripture Say?
1. Look up Ephesians 1:3–14. List every word or phrase that describes who you are in Christ.
2. Which of these is hardest to believe about yourself? Why?
3. What would change if you actually believed this — not just intellectually, but in your gut?
Step 4 — Renewing the Mind
1. What is the false belief about yourself that most needs to be displaced?
2. What is the true statement from Scripture that is meant to replace it?
3. Write a short declaration — not a performance, but a statement of what you are choosing to believe.
Step 5 — Walking in the New Identity
1. How would you live differently this week if you fully believed your identity in Christ?
2. What relationship, habit, or pattern needs to change to align with who you actually are?
3. What do you need to ask God to do in you that you cannot do for yourself?
